“From start to finish this was one of the most incredible and memorable experiences I’ve had travelling alone” So, let’s dive right in!
I departed on Friday the 29th of April 2022 to the magnificent Nusa Lembongan Island on the Bali Hai Catamaran that took roughly 1h30 Minutes to arrive in Mushroom Bay, where the beaches are white and the waters are a beautiful turquoise colour that you truly only see in magazines. It makes for picture-perfect photos I must add. The cruise to the island was incredible, made me feel free with the wind in my hair and the sun on my skin. They served a light lunch and drinks and played some fabulous music to get the trip started. Friendly faces and of course meeting new people are always fun.
On my arrival I was greeted by the staff from Hai Tide Beach Resort, welcoming me with big warm smiles – As a solo traveller, this is something that makes the experience that much more memorable, comfortable and pleasant. I spent the day checking into the beautiful Lumbung that was set up for me, where the room was cool, clean and superbly put together overlooking the incredible Mushroom Bay waters, they offer a variety of accommodation options, from garden Lumbungs, to poolside, Ocean view and beachfront. My lumbung looked over the stunning landscapes of Mount Agung and the Fresh blue waters of the bay.
Relaxing and taking in the quiet atmosphere of paradise – The Hai Tide Beach Resort is located right on the beach, from the Lumbung I could hear the subtle sounds of the ocean as the waves touched the shoreline, kids laughing playing in the warm waters and birds signing in the beautiful trees surrounding the resorts.
Lunch time I went to the well-known Hai Bar and Grill restaurant where again faces where warm, welcoming and friendly. Indulging in a mouth-watering Beer Battered Barramundi, fries and salad, accompanied by one of the bar’s best Mocktails – It truly was a satisfying experience, to say the least. The Fish and Chips were honestly one of the best I have had on Bali main island or any other island I have visited. Chef Frances has truly outdone himself.
After a long and relaxing day in the waters, I made my way to the restaurant for Dinner the Friday evening. Where I once again had an incredible culinary experience, this time a local dish called Nasi Rendang, it’s a beautiful Traditional Balinese beef dish served with Nasi (Rice) – Absolutely incredible and a definite must-try.
During my meal, Kadek the restaurant manager approached me to ask about my meal and if I was enjoying it, which of course I was (Big Smile) – he then said to me that he received a message from a long time childhood friend of mine that lives in New Zealand that’s visited the resort several times over the past few years, and she wanted him to surprise me by saying “hello” – I was pleasantly surprised to know that she has remained in contact with some of the staff from Hai Tide Beach Resort. This once again goes to show how amazing and friendly the staff really is, how your trip to the resort results in lifelong friendships and connections – They truly make your trip unforgettable.
The resort manager Agus, is just as welcoming, hospitable and friendly, always seeking a way to improve your stay and offering a helping hand wherever he can.
The Saturday morning, I was up early, walking the beautiful Mushroom Bay beach watching the sunrise and the silhouette of Mount Agung in the background. Listening to the soft sounds of waves crashing onto the shores and lapping up the beauty that moment had to offer.
Andre, Bali Hai’s operational manager assisted me in renting a scooter where I went exploring the entire day, driving from one magnificent place to another. Sightseeing at its best. Andre offered me a pamphlet to guide me to the best and most well-known attractions on both Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan explaining in detail how to get around and back again.
From the Devil’s Tear to Secret beach, Mangroves and Seaweed farms just to name a few. What an incredible day it was.
Later that afternoon I returned back to Hai Tide Beach Resort just to be approached by some of the staff that not only showed interest in my excursions but also remembered me by name. They paid must attention to my exciting storytelling.
After a long and exciting day, I went to the room to find that the staff came to prepare my bed and room (turn down service). I found a note on my bed wishing me sweet dreams, together with some flowers. It put a big smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart knowing how attentive and sincere the staff and management is.
The Sunday I slept in, and boy did I sleep in, the bed was so comfortable and the surroundings so quiet that I couldn’t drag myself out of bed.
I visited the restaurant for some much-needed coffee and breakfast after I managed to peel myself from the slumber I had
Being the last day on this memorable trip I decided to go all out, from a full English breakfast, accompanied by a beautiful and rich cappuccino and a little extra French toast with maple syrup – What an absolute treat
I was truly sad to leave this beautiful place and the hospitable and welcoming staff that made this experience that much better. I felt blessed and grateful to have met these souls. Not only did I relax, I truly felt welcome and looked after.
Bali Hai tide offers so much more than I could possibly have done in the 2 days I was there. So, I will surely return soon and experience more of the wonderful activities they offer.
